Errant Innovation's AEGIS Regulatory Solutions: A Brief Introduction
Software design is an organic process. Yes, there are specific rules and protocols to follow, but custom solutions come from solving nuanced problems. Much like the fact not all problems are the same, neither are all software solutions. Our solutions, while mostly applicable in many industries, are specifically for the more complex issues facing the medical and adult-use cannabis industries.
Our primary suite for federal, state and municipality oversight is our AEGIS Platform. After successfully developing and deploying a number of custom solutions, our team at EI knew we had to pull it together into a unified ecosystem and rebrand.
So what is AEGIS?
The term Aegis is most often linked to its origin in Greek myth, where it was both a protective cloak that offered protection as well as guidance from Zeus and Athena. In other references it was used as a mystical pouch that was said to house some of the most powerful tools and weapons for the gods, most notably Zeus’s thunderbolts and the foresight of Athena. In more modern uses, it is still parity to protection, control, safeguards. In breaking down its primary modules, it took new meaning all together. Collectively, our solution is:
Access
Enforcement
Grievance and
Inventory Tracking
System
Our systems are designed to control access to cannabis, initially at the permitted business level, and ultimately at the patient/consumer level. It allows for direct interactions in an ideal closed loop environment, while being built with flexibility in mind (knowing full well rules and regulations will change when needed). This system is not just a powerful, but controlled, interchange for permitees, it is fully designed for necessary government compliance and regulation.
The robust and modern AEGIS API is engineered in a way to make it both convenient and secure for integrations of point of sale, inventory management, and laboratory software systems. We have also implemented parallel API-wrap functionality that works with METRC, LEAF DATA SYSTEMS and the BioTrackTHC government traceability systems. This allows a smooth transition by permitting business systems to take additional time in altering their existing API integration endpoints, limiting possible interruptions for cannabis businesses and subsequently patient and consumer access.
Our team has worked with all of the aforementioned government systems in great detail. No system is perfect, but we feel that after several years of hard work we’ve managed to take the lessons learned from all of them to overcome many of the shortfalls. One of the things that we feel makes our system stand out, besides the technology and code itself, is that we know what today’s regulators need. It is not just an interchange and inventory tracking system. It boasts an impressive and customizable reporting system with data that can be run on the fly or automated to send to specific individuals on a dynamic scheduler. We have a huge array of predefined reports and dashboards full of data requested by top regulators in the industry.
It’s not just about tracking every plant from seed to sale, every gram and every transaction with immutable logs. Agencies now have obligations to other agencies, as to public safety for the patient and consumer communities. Our Grievance tracking modules allow regulators to file and track complaints, concerns and comments related to specific companies, products, exact batches and instances. This is absolutely pivotal for trend data, accountability and enforcement support documentation.
We also offer robust patient portal and licensing approval systems specifically for the medical cannabis states, however we understand that many states are quickly transitioning to adult-use (recreational) infrastructures that assimilate the medical cannabis industries.
Our systems can be all inclusive or customized to provide the tools needed, and can be expanded as the program needs grow. At this time we only offer solution demonstrations to verifiable government personnel. Knowing all of the tools an agency might have at their disposal only increases the temptation and likelihood of circumvention attempts.
